The Effect of Vitamin A and ¥á-Tocopherol on Hydroxylation of AAF in the Young Rat Liver Microsome

Abstract
The principal role of cytochrome p450 in mixed function oxidase reactions includes hydroxylation of various drugs, fatty acids, steroids, pesticides, and carcinogens.
The effects of AAF, p - NF with vitamin A, and a tocopherol on hepatic microsomal cytochrome p450 content in young rats were investigated,
The result is as follows
1) The administrations of AAF, p-NF increased contents of hepatic microsomal cytochrome p - 450.
2) The increased amount of hepatic microsomal cytochrome p450 induced by AAF declined when vitamin A, a -tocopherol and p NF were given.
3) AAF-ringhydroxylation decreased in AAF group, but Nhydroxylation increased, compared to control group.
4) The administration of p NF or p -- NF and AAF increased both ring hydroxylation and N hydroxylation.
5) AAF-ring- hydroxylation increased when AAF was administered with vitamin A, a-tocopherol, and P NF compared to AAF group.
